Rich and Diversified Activities Offered by MCUT, Taiwan for the 2022 IISMAVO Program
In the fall semester of 2022, the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry of Indonesia promoted the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards Vocational Edition (IISMAVO) Program. This program is a vocational scholarship program offered by the government to provide Indonesian students of vocational institutions with an opportunity to study in reputable universities overseas. For the selected students, this program has been a great chance to improve their learning abilities and to accumulate global experiences. There were 10 Taiwanese universities chosen as the institution partners for the program this time. Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) was honored to be one of them and got to host 5 awardees.
Through the program scheme of MCUT, these awardees could not only could take the courses based on their majors but also acquire knowledge from other departments. All the courses were taught by professional professors with adequate experiences in the respective industrial fields. MCUT also arranged for the students multiple field trips to various industrial sites or professional exhibitions, including Chunghwa Telecom, Taipei International Electronics Show, Taiwan International AIoT Show, and Taiwan D.B. Art.
Besides the experiences related to industries, the students were offered with free Mandarin lessons and cultural experience classes by MCUT, like traditional Chinese drumming and Chinese calligraphy. In addition, several cultural tours were arranged, such as the visit to Formosa Plastics Group Museum where they learned the history of Formosa Plastic Group and its co-founders, the trip to Sanxia Old Street for them to try out traditional Taiwanese blue-dyeing. The students were also taken to visit Jiufen Old Street, got to see traditional Taiwanese architectures and tasted a variety of authentic foods and snacks there; moreover, they went to Shifen Waterfall and Shifen Old Street where they recorded the beautiful natural sceneries and set off sky lanterns. Furthermore, National Palace Museum and Chinese cultural relics were put into their travelling itinerary so the students gained a deeper understanding of the ancient life of people in this country. Finally, they visited Taipei 101 and enjoyed the aerial view scenery from high above there in person.
Time flies, and the IISMAVO program has come to an end. In order to show the results of this program, Office of International Affairs of MCUT held the IISMAVO
Final Presentation at the end of the semester and invited Taiwanese students and other overseas students to participate as audience. All the awardees choosing to take the exchange study at MCUT claimed that through this program, they not only improved their knowledge, abilities, and skills related to the respective industries which would be beneficial to their future careers, but also accumulated lots of memorable Taiwanese cultural experiences. Everyone of them also made quite a few friends of Taiwan as well as from different countries. In a word, joining the program has proved the importance of gaining global experience overseas. Doubtless to say, the IISMAVO program has further strengthened the friendship between Taiwan and Indonesia.
